Storojuk OThe lawyer Olena Storozhuk achieved a not-guilty verdict for her client Nazar*. The guy was accused of illegal purchase, storage and transfer of methadone.

According to charge, Nazar earlier judged did not learn the lesson and was not ready to be on the right way, therefore he again committed a deliberate crime. The representative of pre-trial investigation carried out the operation purchase of narcotic substance three times. Then the police detained Nazar and searched his apartments.

Lawyers from Rivne region rescued Roma women from going to jail for 10 years

collage RivneLawyers from Rivne region managed to get the verdict of not guilty for a group of Roma women who were accused upon five Articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. They proved that provocation from policemen took place; therefore, the evidence obtained this way was inadmissible.

According to the orders of the Regional Center for free secondary legal aid in Rivne region lawyers Mykola Leikovsky, Maksym Zozulia, Vitaly Homiuk, Valentyn Mervinsky and Maria Ridchenko protected Roma women. All five were members of the one family.

LllYesterday, September 10, 2015, the Kyiv Oblast Qualification and Disciplinary Bar Commission made a decision to disbar Mr. Andriy Vyshnevsky, head of the Ukrainian free legal aid system. The decision prevents Mr. Vyshnevsky from engaging in private legal practice.

The decision represents a further step in the Ukrainian National Bar Association's public campaign to undermine effective management and oversight of the Ukrainian free legal aid system. This development highlights the need for continued effort to protect the new system's autonomy and integrity.
